Is Being An Affiliate Better Than Being A Product Owner?
Many online marketers are earning a lot of money strictly selling other people’s products as an affiliate. They don’t own their information product, rather, they earn commission for each sale by driving the targeted traffic to a site.
When it comes down to being an affiliate rather than a product owner, what are the pros and cons of launching an Internet marketing career. If you’re an affiliate, then you don’t have to concern yourself about product creations or the expenses in setting up your systems for shopping carts and other aspects of Internet marketing.
However, not being in control of the product itself is a major drawback. You have to scour the ‘net to see if there’s a product you feel confident promoting. You can do this through ClickBank and other third party affiliate networks, but you’re always going head to head with competing affiliates for a piece of the Internet marketing pie.
Another thing you can’t do if you’re an affiliate is not being able to control the sales copy or bonus items. If good customer service is not provided by the product owner, then your reputation can be damaged because you’re the one who referred the visitor to the site.
On the other hand, product owners are chained to the process until the end. It’s up to you to develop unique ideas or create or pay to have a product created using outsourcing service and get everything running if you want to be successful in Internet marketing.
Recruiting affiliates and providing them with ample toolbox with strategies can help promote your site. But you retain control over the details of each site and can test and tweak sales copy for higher conversions and deliver any sort of product or bonus that you feel is worthy to your customers.
Do you think, for the Internet marketer considering all options, one choice is better than the other? They both have their own drawbacks and attractive qualities.
There are marketers that do a combination of both. When they create their own information product, it will be in the form of an eBook and then they’ll hyperlink the recommendations back to the affiliate products that they’re promoting.
The profitability of each product they create can then be increased and more income whenever the eBook is promoted by an affiliate can be generated.
